Explore five acres of wildlife and meet over 125 amazing animals cared for by Moorpark College’s Animal Care and Training students. This unique zoo is a living classroom where future animal professionals learn hands-on skills while sharing their passion with you. Ask questions, enjoy the sights, and discover what makes us one of only two college zoos in the country—where learning truly goes wild!
12:15pm - Training Demonstration
Join us as our student trainers give us an up-close look at the amazing animal behavior that is possible when using positive reinforcement. 2 animals will be highlighted. Animals subject to change.
Keeper Talks
Connect with the students of the Animal Care and Training Program as they talk about Animal Ambassadors and their experience as a student.
1:00PM - Ira the Lion - In front of Ira's Kingdom.
1:30PM - Neil & Karma, our tigers. In front of Rajah's Retreat.
2:30pm - Wildlife Presentation
Presented by students of the Animal Care and Training Program, learn more about are animal species and how we can do our part to help them. Located at the Wildlife Theater.
Feeding Demonstration
Watch as our animal care students demonstrate how we feed, train and safely care for some of our animals. Animals subject to change.
3:30pm - Watch as trainer's feed Ira the Lion in front of his enclosure located in Ira's Kingdom.
3:45pm - Join us with Beaker the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill to watch how we feed and work with him. Located in Upper Trail.
Meet & Greets
You never know when you may catch an animal out and about with its student animal trainers. Come eye to eye and learn about some of our animal ambassadors. Located at Exploration Stations.
Visit Rajah's Retreat!
Our brand-new, award-winning Tiger Habitat is complete and ready to welcome you on an adventure. Neil & Karma are enjoying peering out from all areas of the habitat, when it's chilly they may choose to cozy up in the heated bedrooms or enjoy an afternoon splash in the pool. We are so excited at another step in the modernization of The Teaching Zoo! Keep visiting as we add more to the Retreat! Located across from Reptile Retreat.
Clarence the Galapagos Tortoise
At 103 years old and weighing up to 600 pounds, Galapagos Tortoises are some of the largest in the World! Clarence is not to be missed. You can find him munching on a snack or snoozing in the sun! Located in Upper Trail.
Ira's Kingdom
Our male African Lion, Ira, is King of the Campus. His roar can be heard across campus. Located in Ira's Kingdom.
